Nine artists recently worked with South Craven School’s Year 12 Sixth Form students. Participants chose animation, digital music, film-making, dance, drama, creative writing, graphic design or printmaking platforms to explore their ideas and interests.
The project was funded by North Yorkshire Business and Education Partnership. NYBEP supports schools and colleges in enriching the experiences of young people in York and North Yorkshire by promoting high quality partnerships with businesses and other organisations. At the end of a day of workshops, each group of students gave a presentation or performance, which was recorded by the film-making group for a documentary about the project.
One group worked with artist Simon Collins to produce this video animation, using stop motion or frame-by-frame technique - an object is moved by small amounts between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence.
